Services
Over 85% of Atlanta’s tree canopy is on privately owned land.
Atlanta’s native habitats are in YOUR backyard
Invasive Plant Management
Targeted removal and control of habitat-degrading plant species using manual techniques.
Bamboo, Privet (Chinese, Japanese, glossy), Kudzu, Thorny Olive, Nandina, Mahonia, Liriope, Asian honeysuckle, Chaff flower, stiltgrass, and more.
Interventions range from heavy removal such as excavation of woody plant roots, to detail work around sensitive areas containing native plants.
Tree Cleaning
For trees over-run with destructive vines such as English Ivy (Hedera helix), kudzu (Pueraria montana), Wisteria (Wisteria sinensis), fortune’s spindle (Euonymus fortunei), Asian bittersweet (Celastrus rosthornianus), and others.
Tree cleaning improves tree health and reduces the risk of treefall. Even trees that seem hopelessly over-run can recover once free from invasive vines.
We sever all harmful vines around the circumference of the tree trunk before clearing them at least 2’ away from the base of the tree. This ensures any vines that were growing into the canopy will die off completely.
Stormwater & Erosion Mitigation
Effective in areas suffering from poor soil health due to sheetwater run-off, grading, erosion, compaction, over-use and other issues common to urban areas.
Earthwork services resolve erosion, flooding, drainage, and other runoff obstacles common to developed areas.
We build rain gardens, bioswales and berms, terraces, and other natural earth constructions using up to 90% re-purposed and locally sourced materials for best results. Bioremediation and soil health support are built in to our earthwork practice with hügelkultur and microbiome re-introduction.
Recommended alternative to lawn and conventional landscaping for increased wildlife, pollinator habitat and ecosystem support.
Expansion uses each site’s ecotones to build more robust ecology with better biodiversity.
Options include micro-prairies, rain gardens, wildlife meadows, pocket (Miyawaki) woodlands, stormwater wetlands, bioswales and more.
At EcoLogic, we only grow and install native plants in our projects.
Depending on availability and project size, we provide stock from our propagation nursery which boasts eco-types endemic to the Atlanta area. Our nursery includes several local threatened or endangered species (Arundinaria, Symphyotrichum georgianum, and more).
Our staff are additionally trained in installing and maintaining native plants you purchase externally and would like to have introduced to your site.
