From lawn converted meadow to micro-wetlands, Habitat Expansion helps prevent invasive plants from moving back into worked areas by building better biodiversity.

Rain Gardens collect water in designated beds, making them especially effective where flooding and over-saturation is a worry.

Terraces slow and sink water, curing erosion and resolving common issues with steep terrain. Terraced beds are self-irrigating, and can support increased biodiversity.

Swales and Berms redirect water and can be used in many situations. We reuse our debris in most of our swales and berms as hügelkultur for increased volume capacity and added soil amendment.

Invasive control is usually necessary before Habitat Expansion can begin. Some measure of invasive plant management will always be required to protect the native ecology, but the intensity of intervention is greatly reduced with persistent visitation (see Before & Afters).
